I assume that by now you have my owl, but I didn't want to commit this question to the letter just in case someone else opened it for you.

Should I be congratulating you on your renewed relationship with Alecto, or was that merely an idle wish on your mother's part?

Yes, I have received your package and was just in the middle of writing to you when this caught my attention. Thank-you, the journal was a very thoughtful gift, not to mention a convenient one with my own running low on it's blank pages.

As for my mothers resolution...

As far as I can remember there is little need for congratulations on that matter; my mother has been quite displeased with me all break over due to our division so I should not have been the least bit surprised. I apologise for her lack of tact as well of my own after such events. I awoke this morning paying for my gluttonous mood in respects to wine consumption. Apparation lessons this morning were eventful of that I can promise you.

I do hope you like it. I thought it was rather nice, but then again Apollo is always telling me that I ought to leave the shopping got out male acquaintances to him, as everything I choose is too pretty by hakf. I'm never sure how much he's teasing about that. Pretend you like it, at any rate, for the sake of my self-esteem.

Oh, Regulus, I'm sorry, I shouldn't tease you on your birthday. It just seems so funny to me that your mother is so worried about your future, when your choices have always been so exemplary. If I were her, I'd trust you to look after your own future perfectly well. If Alecto is not the girl for you in the long run, then surely the one who is is a wonderful woman indeed. Your mother will realize that in time.

For your self-esteem or otherwise I do truly like the journal. It is a useful gift of which I am greatly appreciative for.

I would do the same were I looking at my home from an outward glance. My Mother has always worried about such things, even when Sirius was still apart of our household...though I suppose she had good reason to then. Still I do not hold it against her in anyway, I simply continue to do what it is that I can to keep her mind at ease. Not that it is entirely too difficult.
